Self-Care Month

Happy Self-Care Awareness Month! Taking care of yourself includes more than just eating right and exercising; you simply can’t neglect your smile! Oral hygiene is directly linked to your overall health, and getting into a routine can help you achieve your health goals. Let’s ensure you are on the right path for excellent oral hygiene!

For brushing, we recommend electric toothbrushes but a traditional toothbrush works well too as long as you change it out every 3 months. We don't have a specific toothpaste we recommend but we do give out small samples of Crest. For flossing, I do it every night. We remind patients that water picks do not replace traditional flossing but it is helpful to remove food, especially if you have braces

Those who have braces tend to practice good oral hygiene, and once their braces get removed, their smile shines brighter! I have braces so I brush after every meal, and if I can't brush I at least rinse my mouth out.

Brushing and flossing don't really take up too much time so everyone should be able to spare 5-10 minutes out of there day to dedicate to that. The goal is to have teeth that don't have any plaque build-up and your gums are a healthy pink.

You might not realize it but maintaining a healthy diet is also a crucial part of your oral hygiene routine. Eating certain foods can damage your teeth over time by staining or causing cavities.

I believe hygiene, in general, is a form of self-care and time to yourself can help rejuvenate you and give you a clear mindset. We hope you found this helpful for your path to better health. We can’t wait to see you in our office again soon.
